Courtney Gamez grew up in Gilroy, California. She began volunteering at the Santa Cruz County Immigration Project in Watsonville in 2011 and found a passion for the immigrant community while building fluency in Spanish. She graduated with honors from CSU Monterey Bay in 2013 with a B.A. in Spanish Language and Linguistics before attending McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. During law school, she studied abroad in Guatemala and served as a Staff Writer for McGeorge Law Review, resulting in her first published article about the California DREAM Loan program for undocumented students.

In 2015, Courtney began working with Morris Law Group as a law clerk and in 2018 transitioned into practicing as an attorney where she currently focuses on humanitarian and family type immigration cases including provisional waivers, U & T Visas, VAWA, DACA, asylum, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. She has worked with and volunteered for the McGeorge Immigration Clinic as a student and as an attorney on multiple occasions and continues to volunteer at the Mexican Consulate in Sacramento providing free consultations. In her free time, she enjoys camping and time at the lake or river with her husband and three dogs.
